Starting Mainoo 'will just push against Southgate's instincts'

Starting Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo for England will go "against Southgate's instincts" says the Telegraph's chief football writer Sam Wallace. The 19-year-old was brought on at half-time to replace Chelsea's Conor Gallagher in the Three Lions' final group game against Slovenia on Tuesday. It was the second time Mainoo has been brought on as a substitute at Euro 2024 and he put in an assured display that has led to calls for him to start England's next match.
