Novak Djokovic forced to withdraw from French Open after knee injury

• World No 1 had been due to meet Casper Ruud in last eight
• Serbian suffered during five-set win over Francisco Cerúndolo

The men’s world tennis No 1 Novak Djokovic has pulled out of the French Open in advance of his quarter-final match due to a knee injury, tournament organisers said on Tuesday.

Top seed and defending champion Djokovic was scheduled to play Casper Ruud in the quarter-finals. Norwegian seventh seed Ruud will therefore progress straight to the semi-finals.
