Elliott Erwitt, who died on 29 November 2023, became a member of Magnum Photos in 1953, where he went on to make some of his most iconic images. In 1968 he became president of the prestigious agency, a role that he held for three terms. Erwitt was renowned for his black and white candid photos of ironic and absurd situations, everyday settings and his great love – dogs. He published more than 25 books over 45 years and won virtually every international photographic award.
